Preparation time: 10min, Frying time: 5 min
6 ounces chevre cheese or 6 ounces goat cheese
3/4 cup breadcrumbs
1 egg
1 1/2 cups oil
(optional: 1/3 cup honey for drizzling on top in the end)
As a main dish serve with: cooked potatoes and/or salad
1. Slice the goat cheese log into 1/2-inch to 3/4-inch medallions. (For easier slicing, make sure the cheese is well chilled. Tip: place it in the freezer for about 10 minutes before slicing.)
- 2. Now put breadcrumbs on a plate.
- 3. On another plate lightly beat the egg with a fork.
- 4. In a shallow sauté pan, heat about 1/2 inch of olive oil over medium-high heat.
- 5. Dip the cheese slices in egg, and coat with the breadcrumbs until fully covered. Due to the strong flavor of the goat cheese, you don't need any seasoning.
- 6. Gently place the breaded medallions into the heated olive oil in pan. Fry until golden brown on each side, about 1 1/2 to 2 minutes.
- 7. To serve as appetizer place medallions on a plate on top of a green salad. As a main dish you can serve it with some cooked potatoes and tomato salad as a side-dish.
- Optional: If you want, you can drizzle each with a little honey and garnish with the peppers.
